Power!

Unfortunately I was unable to attend pre-season last night. Poor effort I know, but I had a prior commitment.

Hopefully there were more attendees. I certainly received fewer text messages offering apologies in advance. So that should mean more people there…..Or it could just mean that they couldn’t be bothered to even text this time!

So, if I wasn’t at pre-season training, where was I? The Birmingham Future AGM and the unveiling of Birmingham’s Power 50 list for 2008.

Just in case you are interested, top spot went to Liam Byrne, Minister for the West Midlands. However congratulations goes to Jon Bounds, blogger extraordinaire who I mentioned in this blog a few weeks ago. He hit the dizzy heights of number 14.

Surprising there were no footballers in the list, but then is footballer ever going to be on a list of what is supposedly a list of the most influential individuals in the area?

So relating this to football (as this is supposed to be a football related blog) who is the most influential footballer in this country? I mean an actual footballer, not a person involved in football. Answers on a postcard…or as a comment will do.

Going back to the Birmingham Power list, just to show how little a grassroots football manager moves in the circles of power, I can safely say that I have only ever had a conversation with three individuals from the list!
