Another win

This time it was the turn of the 1st to register their first victory of the season. But since they were only playing a division 6 team, nothing less was expected.
The match was originally supposed to be played by the 2nd team, but due to a couple of the 1st team friendlies being cancelled, I [...]

Fixtures released

The opening fixtures for the season have been released.
The first game will see the 2nd team at home against Bromsgrove Town. Last season they beat us comprehensively 7-2 in the corresponding fixture.
The new season sees five new teams in the League. AFC Hayes Harriers Adults, Balsalsorna, Meridan Athletic, Silhill D and St Pauls. They replace, Bustlehome, [...]

Looking up….but I have heard that before!

Oops, is it that long since my last update?
Well things have taken a little upturn, however as the title of this post says…I have heard that before.
The 1st team had friendly midweek last Wednesday to compensate for their cancelled Saturday fixture. The second time in the same number of weeks.
Anyway, Richard had some additional new [...]

1 Report : 2 Matches (short version)

I started to write up reports on our last two matches. However it was becoming a bit of a novel without the intrigue.

Saturday 9th Aug
Parkfield A 2 – 5 St Georges Warriors A

I wondered how long it would take to get onto the subject of referees.
Before I say anything, I know that it is the worse job in the world. Trust me, I have done it a number of times.
But in my experience there are six types of referee (in amateur leagues):-
The decent ref (a rare breed, but [...]

Two games, two defeats

The second friendly of pre-season resulted in another defeat last night, but at least it was only by one goal this time.
Typically we were let down by numbers. By the time of kick-off, I had virtually asked every single player in the club to play. I ended up with 12 with me in goal!
The first [...]

History

Unfortunately a lot of the history of the club has been lost over time, such that the current custodians of the club are very scratchy about its origins.
Simple questions like:-
Why the name Parkfield?
Who founded the club?
Why are the club colours green?
Is there any truth to the fable that the clubs original colours were chocolate?
How long [...]
